Objectives: In normal subjects, inhibitory effect of a glucose load (OGTT) on GH secretion is probably mediated by an increase in hypothalamic release of somatostatin whereas the stimulatory effect of arginine on GH secretion is probably mediated by a decrease in somatostatin release.
